Pensacola Museum of Art to Host Inmate Art Show
Pensacola, Fla. – Oct. 20, 2015 –Artwork created by federal inmates from across the region will be on display and for sale at the Pensacola Museum of Art on Friday, Nov. 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The ReEntry Alliance of Pensacola, or REAP, is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Inmate Art Show, which will showcase the works inmates create using simple supplies and their imaginations. Inmate Artwork will be sold through a silent auction process during the Show.
This year’s Inmate Art Show will feature guest Inmate Artist, Jon Masters, who will be at the Museum and at the Festival demonstrating the creative techniques used by inmate artist painting while incarcerated.
REAP hopes the art show brings awareness to and raises necessary funds for their non-profit organization, which provides a variety of resources, including casework, mentoring, housing, transportation, and employment opportunities to newly released inmates in hopes of improving their chances of a crime free, self sufficient lifestyle.
In addition to the art show, REAP is continuing its community outreach throughout the weekend during the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival in Seville Square Nov. 6, 7, and 8. Additional works of art will be on display and for purchase at the Inmate Artworks booth in the Heritage Area.
