Statement of Community Support

The events of the past several weeks have caused many Americans to review our traditional ways of social interaction, doing business, and everyday procedures. Re-Entry Alliance Pensacola, Inc. has had increased demand for its services resulting from the pandemic and now, with the events of the last month, REAP must again speak up for much needed reforms in the criminal justice system. We join with the chorus of voices throughout our country calling for substantial revisions to the justice system to the extent that it that fosters systemic racism, incarcerates too many individuals for too long a period, and unfairly denies individuals of the right to vote.

We join with the chorus of voices throughout our country calling for substantial revisions to the justice system to the extent that it that fosters systemic racism, incarcerates too many individuals for too long a period, and unfairly denies individuals of the right to vote.

Our current criminal justice system disproportionately targets people of color and, therefore, requires immediate and substantial reform. To the extent that present policies unfairly deny or restrict an individual’s right to vote, these policies must be changed before the next election.  While we fully support our dedicated law enforcement officers, acts of police brutality cannot be tolerated. We stand in full support of all Americans’ right to peacefully assemble. Today we renew our commitment to peacefully work toward much needed economic, social, and criminal justice reform.
